A Poolhouse Dream Realized
As high school sweethearts they pedaled past this property with hopes of one day calling it their own. Fast forward 20 years, these clients had made their dreams come true. After renovating the main house, they were left wondering how to repurpose the garage in their backyard. The clients settled on a four-season pool house to serve as an extension of the home’s main living spaces. In order to meet all the clients’ needs in this space, the design incorporated a full indoor and outdoor kitchen, combination bath and laundry, and a pit-style lounge. The original ceiling of the garage was removed to create a vaulted ceiling with high-top transoms, introducing light into the space from sunup to sundown.
The interior of the space was strategically designed to serve multiple functionalities. City-scale appliances provided a compact yet efficient kitchen, the mobile cart-style island serves as prep space and a bar for the interior and exterior kitchens. The laundry and bath include stacked laundry machines, a swimsuit spinner, and a generous walk-in shower. A reading nook provides the perfect perch for a cup of coffee, extra seating during parties, and storage drawers. The resulting design creates a resort style oasis at home.
