Boston’s South Shore Top Design and Build Talent
These clients loved the flow of the home they had raised their family in but were desperate for a complete overhaul of the kitchen aesthetic. The homeowner came to us with inspirational images of a blue almost black kitchen but wanted to also maintain a warm and welcoming atmosphere not pulling too dramatic. Because they also loved the exterior of the home, they requested minimizing any changes that would significantly impact the exterior. A free-standing structure between the entry of the home and the kitchen had always been a design challenge that they were anxious to improve with the new design.
To soften the darker finished cabinetry white marble counters and backsplash were selected to keep the room feeling fresh and bright. As an offset to the dramatic blue/black finishes White Oak cabinetry was introduced in perfect proportion and interplayed with touches of brass to soften the visual expanse at every angle. Subtle, statement-making accents such as the chevron design in the range hood, the bespoke ceiling panel, and the custom installed paneling that transformed the previously problematic floating structure significantly impacted the balance of the design. Floors were refinished with a soft white glaze to ground this dramatic combination of elements. The only exterior alteration created a new window allowing for the installation of a beautiful soft oak desk bathed in sunlight.
Now this showstopper kitchen, visible from every entry and area of the main floor, elevates the design aesthetic for our clients and guests.
